Are you ready for some football?

Fantasy style that is. Our first fantasy draft was held tonight at Manny's place. As usual we had a pot luck with Matt cooking up burgers and brats to add the dishes everyone else brought. The feast was followed by the team number selection, then draft order. Manny threw in a curve ball this year by handing the cards 1-10 then saying we would pick a number to start each round. So the ace may not be the first pick. The kids were all there as you will see in the photo link below. It is great to see how fast they grow. The biggest one is Jake who helps his dad draft. He also had a cast on from breaking his arm and joining the over the bar club for bikers.Del Homies

LT however was no surprise as the first pick, followed by Brady and AP. We picked 6th and selected Marion Barber. Eventually we drafted Jake Delhomme and that is how our team is named "Del Homies".

Thanks to Manny for hosting and being a great commisioner all these years!

Here are the rest of the photos.

5 bedrooms, 4 car garage, 3 bathrooms, 2 fireplaces and a pear tree on Partridge St

This home will really brighten your life. Large windows on the south and west sides really make this home shine. Relax in your 4 season porch year round and watch spectacular sunsets every night! A multi level deck is right off the porch and is ready for your grill. From there you can enjoy your spruce lined 2.5 acre yard that looks like a fairway. The neighborhhod park is connected to the back yard.

Playtime allows you to go the rec room and play billiards or workout. The 4 car garage is 1300 square feet for all of your toys. Afterwards, cozy up to the granite wood fireplace in the family room.

A wonderful kitchen with tiled counter tops and oak cabinets greets you and awaits your cooking creations. You will have a formal dining room along with a dining area by the kitchen. You also have a main floor laundry and bedroom.

When the day ends, your master suite awaits you. Vaulted ceilings, bay windows, seperate vanity area, walkin closet and private master bath highlight this room. Don't worry as the other bedrooms are plenty spacious too. The hallway is even 10 feet wide.

For piece of mind there is a security system and full intercom system.

Big news for County 14 and Highway 65!

This is great news from Minnesota Department of Transportation.

New Anoka County Road 14 bridge over Highway 65 opens Friday, Aug. 29 in Blaine 121st Ave./Paul Parkway, 129th Ave. close for overpass construction

ROSEVILLE, Minn. - The new Anoka County Road 14 bridge over Highway 65 in Blaine is scheduled to open early afternoon on Friday, Aug. 29. County Road 14 has been closed since March 31 for construction of a bridge and interchange at Highway 65. The single-point diamond interchange brings all traffic to a single traffic signal in the middle of the bridge. At the same time, the intersections of 121st Avenue/Paul Parkway at Highway 65 and 129th Avenue at Highway 65 will close permanently for construction of new overpasses. Traffic will detour on 117th Avenue, County Road 14 or 131st Avenue to reach homes and local businesses. The entire project to rebuild the interchange of Highway 65 and Anoka County Road 14, along with new overpasses at 121st Avenue/Paul Parkway and 129th Avenue began in spring 2007 and will be completed by fall 2009. Additional information about the construction is available at: Highway 65 Web site

All American day

After attending our worship service at Constance Free this morning, we headed down to the Metrodome today. The Twins were playing the Mariners for the final game of the series. The Twins had won the first 2 games and started out with 5 runs in the bottom of the first. As we have seen though, no lead is safe against the Mariners. The Twins kept building the lead to 8-0 and then the Mariners started their comeback. They scored 4 times with 3 home runs, ending Glen Perkins night in the 6th. Justin Morneau hit one himself in the bottom of the 6th off the right seats. The Mariners kept fightng and pulled up to 10-8 in the 8th when Joe Nathan came in with the bases loaded and 2 outs. He recorded the out and finished with a strong 9th as the Twins won 11-8.

To add to the all american day, we saw a bald eagle fly over i-94 on the way home. The eagle must have been flying over the Mississippi which runs parallel to the freeway in Brooklyn Center.

Of course I also watched the olympics as I finished my day, just needed some apple pie.

Go Twins!

Constance Softball Playoffs

Well it was a great season guys! 11-1 and tied for first place, we even received t-shirts. Family of Christ Red ended our season early with 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to win the game. Our bats were a little flat as we only scored 7 times. Steve Stelly was kind enough to set up a picinic dinner afterwards and we enjoyed hot dogs and burgers.

Go Constance!

$7500 tax credit!

A new law passed allowing you to claim a $7500 credit as a first time home buyer this year. It does need to be paid back over 15 years or upon the sale of your home, but this could wipe out your federal tax bill this year and then some. Here are the details. http://www.realtor.org/GAPublic.nsf/files/chart_homebuyer_tax_credit_.pdf/$FILE/chart_homebuyer_tax_credit_.pdf

Redneck bottleneck moves West

If you drive through Coon Rapids during rush hour you will be glad to read this note. Highway 10 from Egret to Hanson Blvd will be upgraded to 6 lanes next year. MnDOT plans to spend $10 million to move the redneck bottleneck west 3 miles, potentially eliminating the jam completely for afternoon and morning commuters. Construction will start next April and continue until November when the new lanes will open. The largest expense in the project will be replacing the bridges over the railroad tracks.

Currently, Highway 10 goes from 3 lanes to 2 right after 610 and 47 join the freeway, making for a long slow rush hour as traffic merges. Now the 3rd lane will end at Hanson where 1/3 of the cars exit anyways, This could easily knock off 5-10 minutes from your commute!
