We'll take it! This game was 0-0 after 4, I guess we just need to play from behind. CR United Methodist scored 1 in the 5th. We came back with 3 runs in the bottom but, gave up 3 runs in the 6th. Four more runs in the 6th were enough for us as we turned a double play to end the game. Someone commented the sign of a good team is winning when you don't play well. I guess we have proven that the past 2 weeks. Big game next week against Epiphany, who is only a half game behind us in the standings. If we can win that game we will have a 2 game edge on the league. We'll need to hit better than we did tonight though...

35W river bridge photos

We just went down to Minneapolis to see the progree on the new river bridge. They were doing walking tour and explaing the process used to build the bridge when we were there. Building the span with no visible support is truly amazing. The main span across the river will be free of supporting structure for over 500 feet. The have pre cast 120 sections that will eventually create the span and road deck. On the south side they have 7 segments installed already and just placed another segment prior to our arrival. On the North side they have the first segment installed. There are 4 individual spans crossing the river. In addition there are 2 other bridges, one over the railroad tracks and one over 2nd street. They also built a pedestrain/bike tunnel on the south side to connect to the U of M bridge that crosses the river to the East.

Here are a few of the photos I shot today.

Time to lower your gas bill

As gas prices are at an all-time high, the American people are demanding that Congress take action to drill here and drill now.  More than 650,000 Americans have signed the "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" petition, and that number keeps growing rapidly each day.

Increasing domestic energy resources is not a Republican or Democrat issue; it's about lowering gas prices for hard-working American families.  With more than 650,000 Americans on board, a groundswell of grassroots support is rising up to pressure Congress to stop playing partisan politics and start using more of our domestic energy resources.

We're excited to announce today that Chuck Norris is supporting  our "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" campaign.  Watch him talk about it in this new YouTube video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JnVVkCsw41c.

Earlier this week we easily shattered our previous goal of 500,000 names.  Help us reach our new goal of 1,000,000 signatures by July 4 by forwarding this email to 5 friends and encouraging them to sign the petition and join the movement at www.AmericanSolutions.com/DrillNow.

A million voices would surely catch your Congressman's attention as we work to introduce July 4 as "Energy Independence Day".  Stay tuned for more details.

Thanks for your help and support.

Best,

Dave Ryan
Executive Director
American Solutions

P.S.  Please forward this email to 5 friends and encourage them to watch Chuck Norris' video and sign the petition at www.AmericanSolutions.com/DrillNow.

Constance Softball week 6

Well, Family of Christ Blue gave us a run for the money. They started with 3 runs in the first and shut us out. After 3 we had come back to have a 7-3 lead, thanks to Pete's unassisted double play. The hit was between him and Steve, Pete fielded the ball, tagged the runner, then sprinted and dove into first glove first for the force! You should see that one on sports center tonight. We fell behing 8-7 and trailed 14-11 going into the bottom of the 6th. Nothing fancy but we hit and ran station to station and scored 10 runs. I have termed this a "Constance inning!", any time we score more than 7 runs in an inning. Jim and Scott each had a triple for our big hits on the night. Over all not our best performance but, we never gave up and kept fighting for another win. Half way through the season we are 6-0 and looking good. Here is a link to the standings.

Crash on Coon Creek

My wife and I went for a bike ride this morning to the Coon Rapids Dam. The trail was littered with branches and leaves from yesterday's high winds. The path was also still damp from the rain where the sun hadn't found it yet. On a tight corner into a bridge over Coon Creek, I made the corner fine but my wife's bike slid out from under her into the rail on one side of the bridge. As she hit the side of the metal bridge, she was thrown across to the other side where her head hit the steel rail hard. Luckily she has made it a habit to wear her helmet as the cushioned the blow. We made sure she was ok and she wanted to continue on.

We proceeded onto to the dam which was hosting the annual Carp Festival. Largest carp wins the boat. We crossed the dam and decided to continue onto Elm Creek Park Preserve. There is a nice 6 mile trail linking the 2 parks. We stopped at the swimming hole for refreshments. From there we headed through the park to downtown Champlin and crossed back over the Mississippi River on the historic Ferry Bridge. By then we were becoming tired so we went straight back on Main St on the way home.

Thank God for helmets, looks like I will need to get one too.

Here is a link to the route, the crash occurred at mile marker 4.

A sign of the times.

I know market conditions are slow and time on the market is longer than usual. As Realtors, we need to step up to the plate and make our listings shine. Time and time again I see our signs looking far less than professional. Name riders hanging on one side, posts slanted, and other issues. We may not be able to put the needed coat of paint on our listing but, our signs should always look like they are installed correctly and properly maintained. With the over abundance of foreclosures, short sales, etc. we still need to maintain our professional standards. The signs never were up long enough in good times to look tacky during the good times. Now that they are up longer we need to make sure they look great the entire time the home is on the market.

Constance softball 5-0

Now that was fun, we started off with 7 runs in the first inning and never really looked back. In the 5th, leading 12-5, we had 12 straight base hits on our way to 10 more runs. This was a great team effort with everyone contributing. The great part was that The Alliance was 4-1 and they knocked us out of the playoffs last year. We need to keep our focus on beating Epiphany still to win the division, but the rest of the division now has at least 2 losses.

Coon Rapids Tornado

twister damage

I just witnessed the tornado that went through Coon Rapids MN. I was in my back yard weed whipping and it was getting very dark and eerily calm. I stopped for a minute, looked straight up and saw a streak of green across the sky. I looked out at the southern horizon and saw clouds moving up towards the storm. My neighbor ws on his deck and asked if he just saw a tornado. He said yes, so my wife said to get in the house.

My sister called from up North and asked if we were ok. We had no damage at the time and she thought we should check on my Mom's townhome. She was out of town for the weekend for a wedding. On the way over there we saw the path  of the damage starting just south of 125th and heading East-southeast. My mom's house was fine. I knew my wife's friend Kathy lived near the path so we drove over to check out there home. Most every tree in their yard was down with a few on the home.

Just then a 2nd wave came through dumping marble to dime size hail. We drove to a nearby gas station to get under the awning. The truck may have taken some damge to the roof. I shot a few photos of the hail and the storm cloud after it calmed down.

Coon Rapids Dam Ride

Our bike ride tonight started with a trip to the license center. Needed tabs for the truck, camper, fishing license, and renew my license. Say cheese. Then we decided to continue on the Coon Rapids Dam. Down Foley Blvd. to East River Road, then past Adams Elementary. From there we went under the 610 bridge over the Missiissippi River up stream to the dam. I snapped a few photos of the water coming over the dam. The river is still high from the spring run off, even though we haven't any rain in the past few weeks. The ride was great until I punctured my tube on the way home. My wife continued on and came back and picked me up.

Here are some photos by the dam.

Constance softball

This week we scored our first 7 batters in the first inning, only to give Family of Christ Red 6 back. We kept up the pressure though by scoring 25 runs and held them to 11 to win in 6. Pete Grover's hot bat continued as did Scott Stroyny's. Steady but not great defense on our part kept Red in check. They really hit the ball well through out their lineup. Next week we are off for Memorial Day.

Keep on hitting guys!
